ENERGY SAVING
EDCORE® Membrane has a higher energy efficiency compared to all flat sheet membranes.
In addition, the self supported extruded EDCORE membrane allows an EDC-Anode assemblv with neither outer nor inner supporting grids. NO NEED of a PVC grid like with flat sheet membrane.
The EDCORE membrane can expand freely from Dry to Wet status. EDCORE offers :
- Lower energy requirements
- Higher throwing power at given voltage (-15 to 20% more)
- Higher film built at given voltage. You need 15 to 20% less anodes in your Ecoat tank compared to flat sheet membrane.

ANODE TO CATHODE RATIO (A/C) & NUMBER OF EDC-ANODES
We size a dip tank (hoist tank) with a 1/6 Anode to cathode ratio.
And 1/8 for a continuous conveyor tank.
The quantity of EDC-Anodes can be reduced by 15 to 20% compared to conventional flat sheet membranes, due to a better ion exchange.

SECURITY OF THE PROCESS
- EDC-Anodes designs allow the anolyte circulation under pressure (650 L/h @ 0.3 bar and up to 1000 L/h @ 0.6bar).
- The anolyte flow rate regulation is related to the amps passing through each individual EDC-Anode.
- The anolyte requirement calculation per EDC-Anode is based on 3 to 5 L/h/Amps/m².
- Zero anolyte leakage and less paint sedimentation, thanks to the Extruded and impermeable membrane.
- No risk of anolyte overflow from the EDC-Cell into the bath.
- No risk of bath "siphoning" if some physical puncture occurs to the EDCORE membrane. The anolyte running under pressure offers a counter pressure which prevents this risk.
- EDC-Anodes are flushable with a screw on their foot (in case of bacterial contamination).
- EDCORE expands free of any outer / inner constraints (no PVC grid-mesh).
- EDCORE membrane neither wrinkles nor swells.

EASY MAINTENANCE
EDCORE can DRY, just rinse its surface with Dl water. Leave the anolyte circulate at lower flow rate during the maintenance.

EDCORE membrane’s surface can be brushed with a “scotch brite” green tape to remove sedimented/dry paint from its surface.

The EDC-Anodes weighs only 15 kg each (2.1m active membrane length), whereas a box type weighs around 200-300 kg.

Moving or Replacing EDC-Anodes from/on their supports does not require any special lifting equipment (two operators are recommended).
- The maintenance of an EDC-Anode only need 2 persons instead of a crane for the box type.
- No risk of ED water loss in the empty bath during the maintenance procedure.
- The Red dust/paint cover protects the EDC-Anode from dust and paint projection.
- The withdraw of the EDC-Electrode is easy. Thanks to a PVC screw on top of the EDC-Cell.

LONG LIFE TIME
- The EDCORE membrane remains smooth without forming wrinkles or cracks which cause membrane fouling with paint pigments;
- Alting gives two years warranty (pro rata temporis) on its EDCORE membrane (excluding EDC-electrodes) for continuous or discontinuous systems.
- Experience gained since 2000 proofed that EDC-Anodes provide correct functionality after 6 to 8 years!
- EDC-Electrode quarter rotation every 6 months allows a longer lifetime of the SS pipe.

MONITORING THE EDC-ELECTRODE
An Electrode Certificate is supplied with the weight of each EDC-Electrode. During maintenance, you can take out an EDC-Electrode, weight it and see the difference of weight with the delivered certificate. You can hence estimate its lifetime and organize yourself when would the replacement happen.

THE EDC-CELL

Active wet EDCORE membrane length:
Every EDC-cell is custom sized at millimeters. It depends of the cathode height. We adapt the active length at millimeter. An EDC-cell can have a one piece straight active wet membrane of 3198mm.
We can assemble EDC-cells with 2 membranes connected with a PVC part in between which offers longer membrane length than 3198mm.
The PVC parts are chosen to resist to high temperatures: PVC-U with +GF+ quality.

One design for all Stainless Steel electrodes: a closed under pressure system

The austenitic alloy of the Stainless Steel EDC-Electrode have been chosen to offer the best resistance against corrosion during the Ecoat process.
Different Stainless steel grades for the EDC-Electrodes.
Standard Stainless steel pipe, hot extruded and polished surface. Titanium Iridium coated anodes for high current density requirements.
The Stainless Steel plate is patented since 2001 by Alting.

PACKAGING AND FREIGHT
This step is being very carefully watched.
We use Cardboard / wooden crate packaging.
Wooden crates have special treatment for export purposes ISPM15-NIMP15 for countries who require it.
We chose the most efficient forwarder for each country and the means of transport according to the urgency of delivery time required.
We can produce very rapidly if the EDCORE membrane is on stock.

- EDCAD™ is an application developed under AutoCAD® which offers a very quick Anode sizing in 3 dimensions and implement them in the Ecoat tank.
